Only then does he realize what he has done to Mirabelle, how wanting a square inch of her and not all of her has damaged them both, and how he cannot justify his actions except that, well, it was life.

Some nights, alone, he thinks of her, and some nights, alone, she thinks of him. Some night these thoughts, separated by miles and time zones, occur at the same objective moment, and Ray and Mirabelle are connected without ever knowing it.

TEDxUSC was awesome. A few noteworthy items. There are only a few TED events each year but in 2009, the first TEDx (x=independently organized TED event) was held at none other than USC. After the launch of TEDx, there have been over 1,583 TEDx events held all over the world, which nails the point home that people believe in ideas, and ideas are worth spreading.

Today’s schedule included: 17 speakers, 3 performances, 5 short films, and one outrageous closing.

Best thing I heard: Don’t wait to react — act.

So much of today was about community involvement and the betterment of not just our society, but of international societies. People can do such amazing things. One speaker said it best: innovation happens with hope.

TED (Technology Entertainment and Design) is a global set of conferences owned by the private non-profit Sapling Foundation, formed to disseminate “ideas worth spreading.”

3,200 people applied for an invitation, 450 are on the waiting list, and I’ma goin’! Super excited to see what’s in store.

the best advice I can give you young women is to always keep a cool head, and always keep a warm heart. That will get you far.

The Alliance for Women in the Media celebrated its 54th Genii Awards tonight. The Genii’s honor “notable achievements of excellence by women in the broadcast and media industry” in Southern California. I was a scholarship recipient from this organization, along with five other young ladies. Some exceptional women were honored in the program, including Holly Robinson Peete, Brooke Burke, and some mega savvy female big wigs. And the lifetime achievement award went to Florence Henderson, aka Carol Brady from the Brady Bunch. It was very inspiring to listen to these women talk, to hear them hand down advice to the next generation of women, and to be so warm and receptive with each of us. I’m totally honored that I was awarded this scholarship.  The women who run AWM are those awesome women you see who are capable of doing everything and anything at the same time while doing it totally lovingly and with the best intentions.  Seriously impressed with the entire evening and all the special people I met. Wish some of you had shared it with me.
