In west on 08/31/2010 at 10:21 pm

In 1980, artist Chris Killip created Isle of Man, a rare booklet of photographs that can be torn into six 2×3 in. postcards. This year, the Isle of Man postal authority in the UK created stamps out of his photographs.

I have always been full of lust – as I am now – but I have always been placing conceptual obstacles in my own path- Sontag.

All good things are wild, and free

Talk of mysteries! — Think of our life in nature, — daily to be shown matter, to come in contact with it, — rocks, trees, wind on our cheeks! The solid earth! the actualworld! the common sense! Contact! Contact! Who are we? where are we?- Thoreau

I like to see people reunited, I like to see people run to each other, I like the kissing and the crying, I like the impatience, the stories that the mouth can’t tell fast enough, the ears that aren’t big enough, the eyes that can’t take in all of the change, I like the hugging, the bringing together, the end of missing someone.

Leo Burnett and the Wonders of Advertising

In west on 08/24/2010 at 11:03 pm

One of my professors had a real, first-hand story of working with Leo Burnett.  That’s pretty damn awesome in my book.  If you walk into Leo Burnett, you’ll see apples in the reception and offices.  When Leo wanted to start an ad agency, people told him he’d be out on the street selling apples just as soon as he tried.

He must’ve known — sometimes, people are full of shit.  Don’t listen to ’em.

Leo Burnett is ranked the 9th largest worldwide agency, creator of Tony the Tiger, the Pillsbury Doughboy, the Jolly Green Giant, and was named by Time one of the 100 most influential people of the 20th century.
