When Visitors Come and Go

In west on 11/19/2012 at 12:22 am

There are so many ways to go wrong. All we’ve got are metaphors, and they’re never exactly right. You can never just Say. The. Thing.

The answers were maddeningly absent—it was like trying to remember a song that you knew made you feel a certain way, without a title, artist, or even a few bars to bring it back.

stand still

My heart goes out to the people who’ve suffered from the storm. Fortunately, we are all safe and sound here in Brooklyn. Things are still a bit off. The air is slightly strange. Public transit is not fully functioning, tons of people are without power, and we are running low on gas. Without gas there’s no transportation. No cars, trains, buses.

The gallery I work for was flooded. I received a message on Wednesday saying they had to pump water out of their space. Chelsea were severely affected. Jerry Saltz wrote a piece on the area and its damaged culture after the storm that really made my heart ache. Read here.
