I just discovered Vee Speers’ “The Birthday Party” series.  There’s something incredibly beautiful about these photographs, aside from  the fact that they are  color-tinted Polaroid images and printed life-size (which obviously achieves a stunning effect).  The children are dressed for a bizarre costume party, the lighting’s perfect, their faces are both expressionless in a way and yet, speak volumes.  It’s been a long time since I saw a print series so frank, in the most non-obvious way.

australian fashion week recently finished and dion lee’s collection was pretty damn awesome with his  architecturally balanced pieces.  i’m assuming we’ll be hearing much more about him.
