In all the hustle and bustle of life in the city I finally have a day to get things together before next week begins.

On: The Future

In west on 09/27/2011 at 11:28 pm

I could hear everything, together with the hum of my hotel neon. I never felt sadder in my life. LA is the loneliest and most brutal of American cities; New York gets godawful cold in the winter but there’s a feeling of wacky comradeship somewhere in some streets. LA is a jungle. Kerouac

It is often said that New York is a city for only the very rich and the very poor. It is less often said that New York is also, at least for those of us who came there from somewhere else, a city for only the very young. Didion

Behind the desk was nothing but view-the whole city flung out in front of us the way street vendors fling out their towels packed with cheap, glittery watches and belts. That’s how New York looked: like gorgeous, easy thing to have, even for me. Egan

TUESDAY

Eventful weekend, culminating in a taco truck fight (not mine) and a sprained ankle. I’m officially sick of TV and lying in bed.

The Future: Hurry! Usually I would not advise this, but today you must work speedily! And with great energy! As if being chased. Go!

good luck,

GOOD FALL

In east on 09/25/2011 at 4:56 pm

It’s been one eventful week. Summer is officially over. Monday/ Wednesday interviews. Friday job offer! Saturday Dumbo Arts Festival. All wrapped up with a little pancake brunch and crocheting with my number 1 home girl in Queens, Gabby.

Here’s to another good week to all.

Mon-Thurs

Deneice was in LA this week.  We accomplished: seeing Bon Iver perform Monday night (spotting Charlie from LOST, and Vince from Entourage), beach/seafood overload at Paradise Cove in Malibu, Comedy Bang Bang at the UCB (with a Sarah Silverman performance), the Getty, introducing her to true Middle Eastern food, dranks and dancing, a killer shopping spree, and one perfect meal at Bottega Louie with my favorites.

Hurry back.

paying it forward

In east on 09/23/2011 at 7:30 am

On Wednesday I went to the MTA teller to let them know that I needed a replacement card since the MTA machine ruined mine. She handed me an envelope with a form to fill out and send in. I looked discouraged. Great. Now I have to pay for another card while I have a perfectly intact card with money on it which the MTA ruined. The teller walked out of her booth and said “here I’ll swipe you through.” It was so kind. Nobody has been this warm since I’ve arrived to the city. I thanked her and went along my way. No more that five steps in she calls me back. She hands me her unlimited card and tells me it has a week left in it. Out of the kindness of her heart she gave a total stranger her subway card. This woman really moved me to give to others as often as possible, to be kind no matter the circumstances, and to pay it forward as often as possible.

Fashion and humor merge in this campaign for Lanvin’s Fall 2011 collection. It’s so wrong, it’s right.
