In all the hustle and bustle of life in the city I finally have a day to get things together before next week begins.

The Future: Hurry! Usually I would not advise this, but today you must work speedily! And with great energy! As if being chased. Go!

On Wednesday I went to the MTA teller to let them know that I needed a replacement card since the MTA machine ruined mine. She handed me an envelope with a form to fill out and send in. I looked discouraged. Great. Now I have to pay for another card while I have a perfectly intact card with money on it which the MTA ruined. The teller walked out of her booth and said “here I’ll swipe you through.” It was so kind. Nobody has been this warm since I’ve arrived to the city. I thanked her and went along my way. No more that five steps in she calls me back. She hands me her unlimited card and tells me it has a week left in it. Out of the kindness of her heart she gave a total stranger her subway card. This woman really moved me to give to others as often as possible, to be kind no matter the circumstances, and to pay it forward as often as possible.

Fashion and humor merge in this campaign for Lanvin’s Fall 2011 collection. It’s so wrong, it’s right.

Today I spent some time at my favorite library in Manhattan– Bryant Park’s beautiful Schwarzman Building. On my way out of one of the reading rooms I encountered a slew of paparazzi and a line of tall beautiful women. They were walking into a room that was transformed into a 1920’s salon. The fashion show was hosted by designer Thom Browne. Apparently Anna Dello Russo was in the audience. I love Anna mainly for her unbashful fashion but also because I just found out she gave a shout out to artist Do Ho Suh who currently has an amazing show at Lehmann Maupin.

Press as much of the front surface of your body (palms in or out, left or right cheek) against the wall as possible.
Press very hard and concentrate.
Form an image of yourself (suppose you had just stepped forward) on the opposite side of the wall pressing against the wall very hard.
Press very hard and concentrate on the image pressing very hard.
(the image of pressing very hard)
Press your front surface and back surface toward each other and begin to ignore or block the thickness of the wall. (remove the wall)
Think how various parts of your body press against the wall; which parts touch and which do not.
Consider the parts of your back which press against the wall; press hard and feel how the front and back of your body press together.
Concentrate on tension in the muscles, pain where bones meet, fleshy deformations that occur under pressure; consider body hair, perspiration, odors (smells).

Fashion Week officially kicks off tomorrow and while I am far from a clothing connoisseur I am very intrigued by all the events popping up in the city. After some gallery openings tomorrow evening I’m going to mingle with the fashionista’s at Fashion’s Night Out. Oh what to wear.
