AWESOME UPDATES

saw Teengirl Fantasy and James Blake tonight and holy shit, what a show (see my clip above). Kyle Chandler aka COACH TAYLOR won the Emmy for Best Lead Actor in a Drama (and thanked the one and only Austin fans for all their support). it’s Elise’s birthdayyy so hopefully she’s drunk in Florence right now. and at 7:50PM tonight, I am picking up my girlfran Deneice at LAX.

Revisiting this book I read years ago:

This was what could happen to you: you could end up this far from where you thought you were going.
I walked over and looked closer at the statue of the goddess. She was wearing a headdress with a skull and a cobra and a crescent moon. Maybe this is what peace of mind was all about: having a poisonous snake on your head and smiling anyway.

Beginning October 2011, over 60 cultural institutions will make their contributions to this region-wide initiative encompassing every major L.A. art movement from 1945 to 1980. Celebrate the era that continues to inspire the world.

maybe it’s all the jersey shore i’ve been watching, but i’ve been thinking about florence a lot lately. n and i lived in the rooms pictured for five months, with three other girls. our windows looked onto an apartment across the way and in the middle you can see one of the guys playing his guitar. our living room couch remains my single favorite part of our entire place. through the lit room on the left is our bedroom where we slept in twin beds side by side, then there’s a christmas stocking hanging off the window, it was december when we left.

Texas Fires

Nothing short of massive rainfall will alleviate the dry conditions that have turned every leaf, tree and blade of grass in the state into kindling. Mark Stanford, the Texas Forest Service’s fire chief, said that the state is forecasted to be in a drought until November.

“We don’t see any change, barring tropical moisture,” Stanford said.

Central Texas is in a dire situation: over four hundred homes have been lost, and that number will rise over the next few days as the fires worsen. Because of my attachments to Austin, I have been following this closely.

We ate the lunch with painful politeness and avoided discussing its taste. I made sure not to apologize for it. This was a rule of mine. I don’t believe in twisting yourself into knots of excuses and explanations over the food you make…Usually one’s cooking is better than one thinks it is. And if the food is vile, then the cook must simply grit her teeth and bear it with a smile — and learn from her mistakes.
