Often times my family and I communicate via text. This time my father sent one from the island reading “Dinner at Salinas” accompanied with the image above.

Feist might be the last show I go to in LA for a while, so I’m happy to have spent it with Daniel. My grandfather and I share the same birthday so my aunt was kind enough to throw us an early birthday party together yesterday. That shindig was followed by Julia/Sam&Zach’s early Thanksgiving feast, which was a tremendously beautiful dinner. I must say, 20-somethings are a force to be reckon with – all the dishes looked like they came out of Bon Appetit. Guests left full and happy, and thankful for the hospitality. Maybe I can convince Jules to send the troops east next Thanksgiving and celebrate with us there.

Seeing Feist tonight at the Wiltern.
Even from away he is near me
Making me unendingly teary
Makes me remember the things that I forgot
It’s as much what it is as what it is not
In a room sleeping so peacefully
Fall away from him to be less than lee
All we need is a horizon line
Get some clarity following signs
Realize what you know that you know by now
Realize what you know that you know by now that
First light was
Last light was
Alright when
The circle married the line

The Future: A week of repairs. Repair your body by sleeping, a ripped jacket by sewing, and most of all: your own honor. By rising above.
