An end of the week review of my most memorable and random sightings in New York City:
1.MAN WITH CAT ON HEAD. I’m not even kidding. There is no other way to describe it other than: there’s a man that walks around with his cat on his head.
2. My moms Puerto Rican best friend. Unexpectedly ran into her and her entire family on their visit to the city from Puerto Rico.
3. The mariachi band on the subway. Maracas + guitars + sombreros. All that was missing were mexican pointy boots.

it’s been a bit hectic lately. ok, who am i kidding. i am overwhelmed. so, today i decided i needed a little pick me up and bought myself a delicious lemon vegan cupcake at baby cakes in the lower east side.
lesson learned: treat myself more often.

We have immersed ourselves in a world of grave danger and relentless evil that is make-believe enough not to bleed into our own messy Muggle reality. The adults in the audience have slid back into the breathless, compulsive readerly absorption (and cinematic enthrallment) of childhood, while our children have, with equal breathlessness, leaned forward into the complexity and exhilaration of growing up. We can all feel, under the spell of these stories, as if we were in full possession of our powers.
Maybe this is not a come-down-from-the-ledge story. But I tell it with the thought that the woman on the ledge will ask herself a question, the question that occurred to that man in Bagota. He wondered how we know that what happens to us isn’t good?

Had the loveliest Sunday in Manhattan. Filled with meeting an old college friend, Bastille Day festival, gelato at GROM, and a lovely stroll on The High Line.

went to a benefit for the LA derby dolls last night. totally random and interesting. art, music, men in underwear gyrating onstage?!, godzilla, and a sea of twinkle lights to saunter through with 3D glasses.
