The end of Fall

In east on 12/17/2010 at 9:29 am

Officially finished my second to last semester of graduate school. No more 11 hour  work days till January. Now just voluntary making, reading books for pleasure, curry and wine dinners.

Play Chris Issak’s Wicked Game and I guarantee you will melt like ice cream on hot pavement. Best is to share with a lover of sorts.

Return of the Prodigal

Julian Schnabel’s biopic Basquiat is one of my favorite films, so I finally watched Basquiat / The Radiant Child today.  It definitely choked me up.  To have seen him at his height?  Maan.  I was only two when he died, leaving behind over 1,000 unseen paintings and drawings.

Gracefully

I believe taking care of oneself is of utmost importance. Watching my parents age is both beautiful and horrifying at the same time. I want them to be perfect, after all, they’re my parents. Where would I be, what would I do, without them? So it is my duty to encourage upon them good health while embracing the magic that is to grow older both mentally and physically. Today I had a moment with my mother. I grazed my fingers through her thick dark hair in amazement of the gorgeous silvery strands sprinkled throughout. “I love it” I said. She responded with a gleeful “I know, I like it.”

Secrets of Inspiring Women

In west on 12/13/2010 at 11:11 pm

Celebrating Pictory’s first anniversary with advice worth repeating:

Best thing I ever learned from Scrabble: Apparently it’s considered bad manners to complain about your tiles at the National Scrabble Tournament, because everyone’s luck balances out in the long run.

Maybe that’s not always true. But the fact is, we don’t ever really know the hand someone else is playing with, or when their luck has changed for better or worse. Everyone, male or female, has a unique background of experiences and obstacles — if you want to know what they are, ask. Or start by reading these stories of strong and spirited women figuring out how to succeed in their own skin.
